Varanasi: The woman, whose mutilated body was found stuffed inside black plastic bags and dumped along a roadside in the Madiyahu area of Jaunpur on Sunday morning, was allegedly murdered and dismembered by her boyfriend after he suspected her of continuing to speak to another man on the phone and refusing to show him her WhatsApp chats.The motive came to light after police arrested her 42-year-old boyfriend, Hemal Khakharia alias Dilip, a resident of Bhavnagar in Gujarat, following an encounter.Jaunpur circle officer (Madiyahun) Vijay Chaudhary said on Monday that some morning walkers noticed foul-smelling black plastic bags lying along a roadside on Sunday and alerted the police. When officers opened the bags, they found the severed head and torso of a woman packed inside. During a search of the surrounding area, police recovered the woman’s hands about one kilometre away.Following the gruesome discovery, three police teams were formed to trace the remaining body parts and identify the accused.Late on Sunday, police received information that a man riding a motorcycle was moving through the area carrying plastic bags similar to those in which the woman’s head, torso and hands had been recovered. Around 12.30 am, Madiyahu cops succeeded in surrounding him near Ramnagar block gate when he opened fire at the police team. In retaliatory action, he suffered a bullet injury in the leg and was caught. Apart from a pistol, cartridges and a motorcycle, the cops recovered the woman’s severed legs, weapons used in the murder and her mobile phone from his possession. Later, he was rushed to the hospital.Khakharia told police that he had been living in a rented house in Teachers’ Colony in the Madiyahu area for work. Around two months ago, he came into contact with a 38-year-old woman, a resident of Varanasi, through social media. The woman, who was married and had three children, allegedly secured a job at a private company on Khakharia’s recommendation. The two subsequently grew close, and she began spending most of her time with him, occasionally visiting her family.According to police, the victim went to Khakharia’s rented accommodation on July 4 to stay with him. During her visit, an argument broke out over her mobile phone. Khakharia allegedly wanted to check her WhatsApp chats, but she refused. The argument escalated into a violent confrontation, during which he allegedly slit her throat, killing her.Police said that after the murder, Khakharia decided to dispose of the body by dismembering it. He allegedly purchased black plastic bags from the market, packed the severed body parts into separate bags and dumped them at different deserted locations.After police informed the family, the victim’s husband reached Madiyahu and identified the body. Following the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. Police also questioned her relatives as part of the investigation.
