Pune: The Shirur police arrested a 26-year-old man from Bhabulsar village in Shirur taluka, on the charge of bludgeoning his 84-year-old grandfather to death.The murder took place at 8am on Monday after the victim, Dashrath Raut, allegedly ordered the accused, Somnath Raut, to go to their farm for work. Dashrath’s elder son, Duryodhan, lodged a complaint with the Shirur police.“The complainant, who was on his way to a temple, noticed his nephew striking his father with an iron rod, and had to rush in to stop him” the officer said.Somnath allegedly told them that his grandfather would often berate him to do household work. “Upon being asked to work at the farm, he got agitated, and attacked him”, the officer said.Somnath was found to be short-tempered, having beaten up his father just two days ago. “We have arrested him under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigation is underway,” the officer said.
