Noida: Police have arrested a 40-year-old man after his wife hit her head on a wall during an alleged quarrel between them, police said on Saturday.The couple, Dhena Lohra and Geeta Kumari, natives of Jharkhand, had come to the city as daily wage labourers. They had been employed at an under-construction site in Nimbus Arista at Sector 168 and lived in a makeshift hutment there, police said.An officer said the two got into a heated argument over household expenses in their hut on July 31. Allegedly, Dhena had asked Geeta for money to buy vegetables but she refused. The argument escalated to a physical altercation during which the man tried to assault his wife and she tried to defend herself.During the scuffle, he allegedly pushed Geeta and she hit her head on a wall. Her head started bleeding and she subsequently collapsed.A complaint was lodged by the woman’s family at Expressway police station on Aug 1. Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against Lohra under Section 105 of the BNS, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.Following the registration of the case, police teams began searching for the accused. During the investigation, they received information that Lohra had been seen in Sector 168 after the accident. Acting on the information, a team laid a trap near Chaprauli T-point and arrested him.An officer said further legal proceedings were being carried out against the accused. Police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the dispute and the exact sequence of events that led to Geeta’s death.
