Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Friday sentenced 27-year-old Sudhir Jatav to life imprisonment for the murder of a 10-year-old boy, relying on circumstantial evidence that included the “last seen together” theory.Jatav was accused of abducting the child, Kanaiya, from near his residence in Narol on Dec 8, 2018. After the boy went missing, police registered an FIR four days later. During the investigation, police recovered the child’s skull, though the rest of his body was never found.Jatav was arrested after circumstantial evidence, including CCTV footage, placed him with the victim shortly before the disappearance.He was charged and tried for abduction, murder, and destruction of evidence. Additional public prosecutor Bhavesh Patel examined 25 witnesses and submitted 44 documentary exhibits to prove Jatav’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
