Kurukshetra: A Kurukshetra court on Tuesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a brick-kiln worker in Mathana village in April 2023.Additional district and sessions judge convicted Prem Singh, a resident of Pidola village in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district, under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 25,000 under Section 302, with an additional three months’ simple imprisonment in default. Under Section 201, he was sentenced to one year’s rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000, with an additional month’s simple imprisonment in default.According to the district attorney, Sukhram had been working at a brick kiln owned by Laxman Das in Mathana for four-five months. On April 1, 2023, he told his son over phone that fellow workers were drinking and that Prem Singh and another worker, Sanjay, were allegedly abusing him and arguing with him.The next morning, his son received information that Sukhram had been murdered. Police registered a case at Thanesar Sadar police station and arrested Prem Singh on April 6.After examining the evidence and witnesses, the court convicted him and pronounced the sentence on Aug 25.
