Lucknow: In view of Raksha Bandhan and Barawafat, DGP Rajeev Krishna on Tuesday ordered daily monitoring of sensitive crimes, stronger police visibility at crowded places and immediate action against fake and misleading social media posts.The directions were issued during a high-level crime review meeting held online at police headquarters with senior officers from across the state, including zonal ADGs, police commissioners, range IGs and DIGs, SSPs, SPs, additional SPs and circle officers.DGP directed police to maintain special vigilance over robbery, dacoity, snatching, harassment, crimes against women, cases involving religious conversion and alleged ‘love jihad’, cow slaughter and cow smuggling.DGP stressed that continuous monitoring, quick action and accountability would be essential to make the zero-tolerance policy effective. He also ordered police units to closely monitor information circulating on social media, as well as in print and electronic media.Any suspicious, fake or misleading information must be verified immediately, he said. Where content is found to be false or deliberately distorted, police have been directed to initiate legal action and seek its removal in accordance with the law.For Raksha Bandhan, police have been asked to increase deployment at bus stations, railway stations, taxi stands, e-rickshaw points and other crowded locations, where the movement of women and passengers is expected to rise. Anti-Romeo squads will be activated at vulnerable locations.Officers have been instructed to prevent motorcycle stunts, speeding and dangerous driving during the festive period and take action against violators.DGP ordered regular training and briefings for personnel working at Mission Shakti Centres, particularly on dealing with women and girls and responding to women’s safety concerns.Krishna also directed circle officers and assistant commissioners of police to conduct daily reviews of investigations pending for 60 and 90 days through the Case Diary Monitoring Dashboard.DGP also ordered police officials to ensure that the ‘Yaksh’ app contains accurate and updated criminal records.
