Noida: A shopkeeper was shot at during an argument over a packet of gutka in Greater Noida’s Surajpur on Sunday. The accused was later arrested during the early hours of Tuesday, and the shopkeeper is in a stable condition.According to police, Surendra Tongar (43) went to buy gutka from a shop in his neighbourhood run by the victim, Uday Pratap Gurjar, on Sunday. The two got into a heated argument, which turned into an exchange of abuses. In a fit of rage, Tongar allegedly pulled out his .32-bore pistol and fired at Gurjar.The bullet entered the victim’s lower abdomen and exited the body. Locals rushed to his aid as the accused fledand called the police, who then brought Gurjar to a nearby hospital. Medical examinations revealed that bullet fragments were lodged inside his body and that his internal organs had not suffered serious damage. Doctors said his condition is stable.Gurjar’s family members filed a police complaint, and an FIR was registered under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS at Surajpur police station. Two police teams were formed to trace the accused.On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, cops arrested Tongar from near the Dadri-Rupbas bypass. The licensed pistol allegedly used in the crime and one live .32-bore cartridge were seized from his possession.
