Man dupes mobile shopowner of Rs 1.35 lakh

Pune: The Talegaon MIDC police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly duped a mobile shopowner of Rs 1.35 lakh.The incident took place on June 16. The shop owner lodged a complaint with the police on June 19.According to the police, the accused purchased a high-end smartphone from the shop. He showed the owner a transaction screenshot of the payment and left. “When the shopowner checked his bank account, he found that the money had not been transferred,” an officer from Talegaon MIDC police said.“The shopowner then realised he had been duped,” he added.Preliminary investigation revealed the alleged use of a deceptive app that displays a fake payment confirmation while diverting the actual funds to a different account. “We are working on some clues to trace the accused,” he added.
