Bengaluru Customs intercepted a passenger who arrived from Dubai and attempted to smuggle 1.04 Kg of gold, valued at ₹1.64 crore, by concealing 9 gold bars in the pocket of his trousers. The goods were seized under the Customs Act.
Bengaluru: A 27-year-old passenger who landed from Dubai was caught carrying nine gold bars at KIA Terminal 2. Customs officials said the native of South India had hidden the gold bars, weighing 1kg and estimated to be worth over Rs 1.6 crore, in his trouser pockets.“We wanted to examine him because he appeared to be very anxious. We searched his bag first but didn’t find anything. Then we checked his trouser pockets and retrieved the gold bars,” a senior official told TOI.He has been arrested and the gold seized.
