Mumbai: Just two months after granting the farm loan waiver, the state cabinet has approved the extension of the Gopinath Munde accident relief scheme for farmers for another three years and the inclusion of eligible landless agricultural labourers and women farmers in this scheme. Earlier, this scheme was applicable to only two members of the family, but it will now be applicable to all family members.The scheme covers accidents during farming, including natural disasters such as lightning , floods , snake bites , scorpion bites, electric shock and road accidents.The scheme was being implemented from 2023-24 for all farmers in the state and any one member of the farmer’s family between the ages of 10 and 75 years. Now the cabinet has approved the extension of this scheme till 31st March 2031. Women farmers will also get the benefit of the scheme.The cabinet has approved the inclusion of internal bleeding and heat stroke due to accidents in the scheme. The financial assistance will be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer. An integrated online portal will be launched for this. The Cabinet meeting approved a provision of Rs 200 crore for the implementation of this scheme.
