Ludhiana: Canadian authorities are investigating the death of a 24-year-old Punjabi-origin childcare educator found in a park at Barrie, Ontario, just 300 m from her house.Anmoldeep Kaur, from Akalgarh village of Ludhiana district originally, was discovered dead on Monday morning. Her father, retired Subedar Parminder Singh, has claimed that the family was notified at 6.15 am on Monday after Canadian police had contacted Anmoldeep’s brother in the US.Anmoldeep Kaur, who moved to Canada on a work permit in Dec 2021, had spoken with her family on Friday regarding plans to study nursing in Germany. Her roommate reported that Anmoldeep Kaur had left for a routine walk shortly before her death. While the cause of death remains unknown, the bereaved father has said he does not suspect foul play. “My daughter never complained about anyone,” retired Subedar Parminder Singh said, noting that his daughter had often called the family from the same park where she had been found dead.A volunteer organisation from the family’s native village, Manuke, is assisting it with the repatriation of Anmoldeep Kaur’s body, which is expected to reach India next week. The family is left with the memories of her last home visit in Nov 2023. Her parents had tried for a Canadian visa but failed thrice (the Subedar once and his wife twice).
