Labourer crushed to death by SUV in Sector 10

Gurgaon: A 36-year-old man was killed after an SUV allegedly ran over him in Sector 10 in the early hours of Monday. The deceased, Ramji Kumar, a native of Bihar and a resident of Manesar, who worked as a labourer in the city, was found lying on the roadside with tyre marks visible on his body from his legs to his head.A police officer said the pattern of injuries suggested that an SUV-type vehicle may have been involved in the incident.“Tyre marks are visible on the body from his leg to his head. It is believed to be an SUV, as if it were a heavy vehicle, it would have crushed him,” the officer said.According to police, Kumar’s family said he was addicted to alcohol. He left his home in Manesar around 4 pm on Sunday but did not return. His family initially believed that he might have been drinking with friends and would return later.Police received information about the incident around 4 am on Monday. A mobile phone recovered from Kumar enabled police to track down his family, who were then informed of the accident.Police checked CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the vehicle involved, but the vehicle could not be traced. “Several vehicles pass through the area during those hours as cars and heavy vehicles move towards Khandsa Mandi. The incident has not been captured in any of the CCTV cameras checked so far,” the officer said.Investigators are also exploring the possibility that Kumar may have fallen on the road due to heavy intoxication and was later run over by a vehicle. Police said there were no major external injuries apart from the tyre marks on his body.
