Bengaluru: Drawing flak from environmentalists and park lovers over the proposed tunnel road project that cuts through Lalbagh, the Karnataka govt is contemplating changing the alignment to avoid any damage to the three-billion-year-old Peninsular Gneiss.The issue came up for discussion during Greater Bengaluru Authority’s second meeting presided by CM DK Shivakumar and Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Thursday evening.According to sources, instructions have been given to weigh the pros and cons of shifting the entry and exit points along with ramps for the tunnel road from the park.The govt had earlier proposed to acquire 5 acres of land for the 16.7-km-long tunnel road project costing Rs 16,980 crore. “We are exploring alternatives,” Shivakumar told reporters.The GBA meeting cleared 11 proposals, including Rs 450 crore infrastructure development project for Outer Ring Road and white-topping-related projects.
