Jaipur: Families of five women who died after childbirth at New Medical College and Hospital in Kota in May 2026 on Monday sought copies of inquiry reports and an Action Taken Report from the district administration and health department, days after state govt revoked the suspension of three doctors linked to the cases. In a representation submitted to district collector Peeyush Samariya and chief medical and health officer Narendra Nagar, the families demanded transparency on the inquiries and follow-up action. They sought certified copies of the report prepared by a special team of doctors, saying its findings had not been made public despite concerns over the deaths.State govt had suspended gynaecology professor B L Patidar and surgery associate professors Khushboo Meena and Navneet Kumar on May 9 following protests and allegations of negligence at the hospital. Medical education department joint secretary Jyoti Chauhan issued orders Friday cancelling their suspensions and reinstating the three doctors. Before the reinstatement, Kota Medical College had formed an internal panel to examine the deaths. Separate committees from AIIMS Delhi, SMS Medical College Jaipur, Medical College Jodhpur and New Medical College Kota had also scrutinised the cases.Mohammad Ashu, husband of Shireen, one of the women who died after delivery, said all five families had sought an Action Taken Report detailing the administrative and legal steps taken so far, including action against officials, medical staff or others found responsible for negligence. The families also raised questions over the medicines allegedly used during treatment. They sought to know why, if the deaths were linked to wrong or unsafe medicines, a murder case had not been registered against those involved in procurement without proper testing. They also asked why the company concerned had not been blacklisted, removed from the supply chain or publicly named. The families said govt and administration had assured them financial compensation, but no payment had been made. They also said officials had promised jobs to one member of each deceased woman’s family during protests, but the assurance remained unfulfilled. They demanded clear timelines for compensation and employment support.
