Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday directed officials and the construction agency to complete the Uppal elevated corridor within the stipulated deadline, warning that no delays would be tolerated.Reviewing the project’s progress, the minister expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work and instructed the agency to accelerate execution. “We promised the people that the corridor would be completed by Dasara 2026. We have to deliver on that commitment,” he said.Noting that commuters have endured severe traffic congestion on the Uppal-Narapally stretch for years, Komatireddy ordered the agency to increase manpower and operate in three shifts. He said construction should continue at night wherever feasible and directed that the 6.25-km BT road beneath the corridor be completed by the end of Aug.The minister also instructed officials to speed up work from both the Uppal and Narapally (CPRI) ends, deploying launching girders on both sides. When the agency sought an extension citing rains and challenges in night-time construction, Komatireddy rejected the request and reiterated that the Oct. 31, 2026 deadline would remain unchanged.Officials informed him that nearly 60% of the corridor work had been completed and that 300 workers were engaged in two shifts. The agency assured the minister it would complete six slabs every month. On the Uppal side, one slab has been completed and work on a second is underway.Komatireddy directed officials to submit daily progress reports and said he would conduct site inspections every 10 days. He also reviewed GHMC flyover works linked to the corridor and called for close coordination to ensure simultaneous completion of all components.
