Ludhiana: Hair-oil and powder samples were confiscated on Tuesday from a Khanna salon that had sold these products as miracle cure for baldness last year and left 60 people rubbing their eyes.A joint task force of the health department officials and police raided the GTB Market salon following complaints that the business made unverified medical claims regarding baldness cures once more and was attracting many balding men.Inspectors seized samples of hair oils, shampoos, and proprietary hair-pack powders for laboratory testing. District ayurvedic officer Dr Raman Khanna, drug inspector Sandeep Kaushik, and police personnel who conducted the joint operation ordered the salon operator to suspend all treatments and sales pending test results.Khanna SSP, Darpan Ahluwalia, said police will determine further legal action based on the chemical analysis of the seized products. Police sources noted the salon had built an interstate clientele, attracting customers from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.Following the inspection, the salon operator went live on social media to announce the immediate suspension of hair-pack applications. The business previously faced regulatory action 18 months ago over similar practices.In March last year, the health department had sealed the GTB Market salon after an off-site treatment camp in Sangrur led to a case against two men when 60 participants suffered severe eye infections and adverse reactions from their baldness remedies.
