Bicholim: Karapur villagers on Tuesday reiterated their ultimatum to govt that they will stage a road blockade on Aug 15 if their demand to scrap the proposed mega housing project is not met.The villagers, who have been agitating for the last four months, issued a 10-day warning on Sunday.Swapnil Salelkar, convener of Karapur Gramastha Ekvoticho Aawaz, said the agitation entered its 122nd day on Tuesday. Salelkar said despite four months of sustained protests, govt has failed to address villagers’ concerns or extend support to the movement. He said the protest has drawn supporters across Goa, and if govt does not act before the deadline, they will join the Independence Day protest.“There is no certainty about which roads may be blocked or from which areas the protesters will gather,” he said, urging govt to avoid inconvenience and unrest.
