Noida: A biker allegedly stalked a journalist on her way to office in an auto-rickshaw on Wednesday morning, made obscene gestures and lewd remarks, and repeatedly rode alongside the vehicle in broad daylight in an area of Film City lined with media offices. Police said they have identified the accused through CCTV footage and are tracing him.The journalist later filed a complaint at Sector 20 police station. SHO Aravind Kumar told TOI that CCTV footage had helped identify the accused and that his address was traced to a slum cluster in Delhi. “We are probing the case and expect to arrest him within a day or two. The FIR will be registered after his arrest,” the SHO said.Recounting the incident, the woman said she was travelling to her office at Express Tower around 10am when the biker began peering into her auto before following it. “He came close to the auto, made obscene gestures and passed lewd remarks while riding alongside me,” she alleged.“At first, I wasn’t sure if he was stalking me. But when he drew level with the auto and began making vulgar gestures, it became clear. I wanted to chase him, but the auto driver couldn’t match his speed,” she added.According to her complaint, the man fled as soon as she took out her phone to record him. She managed to capture a video in which a man dressed in black is seen overtaking the auto before speeding away on his motorcycle.The journalist later shared the video on social media. “It is disturbing that something like this can happen in broad daylight in a city like Noida. It raises serious concerns about women’s safety,” she said.
