Ghaziabad: Two IT professionals were injured late Thursday when a speeding car rammed into them as they stood at a roadside paan shop in Indirapuram, with the driver fleeing the scene without stopping to help. Police registered an FIR on Sunday evening after receiving a video of the incident.The victims, Ananya Verma (26) of Ambedkar Nagar and Pulkit Srivastava of Hamirpur, work at an IT firm and live on rent in Ghaziabad. They were making a purchase at the shop around 11 pm when a Suzuki XL6 (DL12CS4037) struck them at high speed.Srivastava bore the brunt of the collision, falling on the road and sustaining a head injury requiring four stitches, a hand injury requiring two stitches, and multiple other wounds. Doctors have advised three to four weeks of complete bed rest, and his treatment is ongoing. Verma suffered injuries to his back and hand.Locals rushed both men to Avantika hospital, where Verma received initial treatment. Srivastava was transferred to Max Hospital in Vaishali, as no doctor was available at the first facility.In his complaint, Verma said the driver made no effort to check on the injured or provide assistance, instead accelerating away.Beyond physical injuries, Srivastava’s iPhone, valued at Rs 1.3 lakh, was destroyed in the impact. His medical expenses — including hospitalisation, tests and medicines — have already reached around Rs 1 lakh, with costs likely to rise.A 26-second video received by police shows the car being driven rashly before the collision. Indirapuram ACP Abhishek Srivastava said an FIR has been registered against an unknown person under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(B) (grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 324(4) (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 20,000 but less than Rs 1 lakh) of BNS.“Our teams are working to identify the accused using the vehicle’s number plate. We are also checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the driver,” the ACP said.
