IPS officer alleges mother murdered, jewellery stolen at Ambedkar Nagar home

Lucknow: UP cadre IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra on Monday lodged a case of murder and robbery in connection with the sequences of events that had unfolded at his ancestral home in Ambedkar Nagar on Sunday.In his complaint, Mishra has stated that his uncle Sachindra Mishra had called to inform that his mother Indrawati (95) had suffered a heart attack and died. When Ashutosh reached home and examined the body, he noticed that several pieces of jewellery were missing from her person, including a gold chain, a tulsi necklace with gold beads, a nose pin and earrings. Her anklets were also missing.Blood was visible around her mouth, and a green towel had been stuffed inside it. Two injury marks were also visible on her lips.The IPS officer was of the view that the circumstances indicated that his mother was murdered and that the assailants took away the jewellery she was wearing.SP, Ambedkarnagar, Prachi Singh, told TOI that the autopsy report ruled out murder and no injury marks were found on the body of the woman. “Forensic experts conducted an examination of the scene of crime and did not find any signs of struggle or confrontation in the room where woman’s body was recovered,” she added.SP added that the possible cause of the death of the woman is a heart attack, for which a histopathological examination of the heart is being done.Police officials have said that a maid and some relatives of the family are under the scanner.
