Lucknow: Get ready to explore the world of Indian Navy, be its weaponry, equipment or the decommissioned warship INS Gomti. All this and more will be on display at the Nausena Shaurya Sanghralaya (Naval Gallantry Museum), which has been set up near the Ekana stadium in CG City.The museum inaugurated by defence minister Rajnath Singh and CM Yogi Adityanath recently is now open for the public. Entry is free till Aug 31, after which one will have to buy entry tickets — Rs 50 per adult and Rs 25 per child.Located about 500 metres away from Ekana stadium, the museum allows visitors to walk through parts of the warship and view equipment used during its service. Visitors can also learn about INS Gomti’s history and operational role through displays at the entrance.The open-air section features several naval weapons and aircraft, including the AK-726 medium-range gun, SET-53M anti-submarine torpedo, JIF-101 launcher, A-244S triple torpedo launcher, P-21 anti-ship missile and AK-230 gun system. A TU-142 aircraft is also on display.Developed jointly by the Indian Navy and UP Tourism, the museum showcases the Navy’s role in protecting India’s maritime interests. INS Gomti, which served the Navy for 34 years before being decommissioned in May 2022, is the museum’s main attraction. The museum also houses INS Gomti’s navigation radar and electronic warfare equipment used to detect and track enemy vessels, aircraft and missiles.The SET-53M torpedo on display was designed to track and attack submarines. The exhibits give visitors, particularly children, an opportunity to see naval equipment used in operations at close range.LDA, which will operate the museum, plans to add a restaurant and other visitor facilities.
