BENGALURU: A radiologist has been booked for allegedly raping a woman staff member at his diagnostic centre and subsequently sexually assaulting her repeatedly, besides abusing her with casteist remarks and threatening her with a video, police said on Tuesday.The case came to light after the woman approached Kodigehalli police station on September 3, following which an FIR was registered against the doctor.According to the complaint, the accused took the woman to a room on the first floor of his diagnostic laboratory on December 15, 2025, on the pretext of looking for some files.At around 11am, he allegedly sprayed pepper spray on her face and forcibly raped her, police said.The woman said she regained consciousness around 11.30am and found herself naked, news agency PTI reported.When she questioned the doctor, he allegedly threatened her with a video of the incident and told her he would upload it on social media if she disclosed what had happened, the FIR said.Fearing him, she alleged that she remained silent and complied with his demands.The woman further alleged that the doctor arranged a rented house for her and visited it every day, where he allegedly raped her repeatedly, according to the FIR.She also alleged that on July 2, 2026, the accused abused her with derogatory caste references, telling her that she belonged to a lower caste while he belonged to a higher caste and that he no longer wanted her association.He also allegedly told her that she would no longer have a job at his company, the FIR said.Following her complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) dealing with rape, criminal intimidation and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace.Relevant provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked, a senior police officer said.“All allegations are being verified and further investigation is underway,” he added.(With PTI inputs)(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
