TNNLudhiana: More than three months after two “impersonators” were allegedlycaught writing a Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB)recruitment examination on behalf of original candidates, the Ludhianapolice registered a cheating case against the two Haryana-based aspirants.As per police, the case pertains to the Group D recruitment examinationconducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) onApril 5 this year. The School of Eminence in Sekhewal was one of thedesignated examination centres.The police complaint suggests that the centre superintendent and principal,Naresh Kumar, detected during verification that two unidentified personswere “appearing” in the examination in place of the original candidates. Itadded that he immediately submitted a written complaint to the police.Following a departmental inquiry, the Daresi police registered a case underSections 318(4) (cheating) and 3(5) (common intention-related) of theBharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The accused included Bijender, a resident of Neem Ka Chautra in Hisardistrict of Haryana, and Ankush, a resident of Bathmara village in Haryana.Cops said the two accused allegedly arranged for dummy candidates to writethe examination on their behalf in an attempt to secure govt jobsfraudulently. The impersonators were allegedly detected and apprehended atthe examination centre, and legal proceedings were initiated against them.The investigation has been entrusted to ASI Sukhdev Singh, who is nowworking to identify and trace the “impersonators”.SHO Daresi police station, Inspector Jaswinder Singh, suggested that thecase is at an initial stage and after investigation, the persons who wereallegedly appearing on behalf of the candidates will be known. He addedthat the complainant in the case would have details of the persons who wereallegedly caught while appearing in the examination on behalf of twocandidates.A police officer said that they will also probe to ascertain whether alarger examination fraud racket was involved.Can be added as box:March 2026: A 24-year-old woman was arrested after she was allegedly caughtimpersonating a candidate during the Class X Punjabi language examination.The accused was allegedly appearing for the exam on behalf of her friendwhen invigilators detected the “impersonation” and alerted the police.In Aug 2023: A Ferozepur resident was nabbed for appearing in the PunjabSubordinate Staff Selection Board (PSSSB) clerk exam in place of hisfriend.
