Panaji: The Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine has filed a complaint alleging that an ayurveda hospital and panchakarma centre at Porvorim is operating without obtaining mandatory statutory licences.President of the Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine Dr Sneha Bhagwat said that during an inspection of the hospital, officials found that the doctors practising at the hospital were not registered with the Goa Ayurvedic Council, except for two local doctors.Bhagwat has filed a complaint with the North Goa SP, the North Goa collector and the health department calling for stringent action against the hospital and suspend its operations until all required licences, registrations and statutory permissions are obtained.“The establishment was also found to be carrying out panchakarma and naturopathy treatments and dispensing medicines without possessing the necessary pharmacy licence. The inspection further revealed absence of Clinical Establishment Licence, pollution control board clearance, fire NOC and other mandatory approvals. Employees working at the establishment were also found without valid health cards. Though the establishment claims to function as a 30-bedded hospital, no valid legal documentation supporting the same was produced during inspection,” said Bhagwat. She added that the operations of the ayurveda and panchakarma centre in violation of legal requirements endanger public health.
