Bengaluru: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore Alumni Association (IIMBAA) community raised Rs over 20.1 lakh to support a student who was seriously injured in an accident.The student met with the accident on Aug 15 and was admitted to Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, in a coma. An appeal for financial assistance was shared with the alumni community on Sept 25, with an initial fundraising target of Rs 18 lakh.Within two hours, the target was met. By the end of the campaign, 267 alumni had contributed Rs 20.11 lakh, while many others amplified the appeal within their networks and reached out to fellow alumni to mobilise support, said a release from the association.“I am proud to see IIMBAA becoming a real community, one where people come together to help each other when it matters. Our job was to reduce the family’s hardships, at least the financial part, as they struggle to deal with the trauma,” said Harish Mittal (PGP ’88), president, IIMBAA.The student is currently out of ICU and is at the rehab centre of the hospital.
