Rewari: Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Meerpur, Rewari, has approved the establishment of a ‘Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Chair’ to promote dedicated research on the philosophy and teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, along with an additional PhD seat across all Chairs beyond regular supervisory limits.The decision was taken at the 52nd meeting of the university’s Executive Council, chaired by vice-chancellor Prof Aseem Miglani.The council deliberated on academic, administrative, financial, affiliation and research matters under the main, supplementary and table agendas.The V-C said to expand modern and skill-oriented education, the proposals for setting up the ‘Institute of Multidisciplinary Studies’ and the ‘University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET)’ were approved by the executive council, along with engaging industry experts as professor of practice.The council confirmed appointments of visiting professors, adjunct faculty, distinguished faculty, and chair professors across various departments, including biotechnology, botany, chemistry, history, mathematics.Matters regarding the service extension of contractual employees and pay protection were approved. Appointments for IQAC advisor, technical advisor (finance), and advisor (horticulture) were approved by the council.The council accorded final approval to the admission brochure (2026–27) for BEd, BElEd, BEd (Special Education), and MEd courses.The council approved new research governance guidelines, an SOP for transparent handling of university donations, and the proceedings of the University Sports Council, besides ordinances for the 5-year integrated UG-PG and BCom (logistics & supply chain management) programmes.It also approved extension of affiliation for various colleges and the introduction of BTech (CSE–AI&ML) and MBA courses at Mata Raj Kaur Institute from 2026–27.
