BENGALURU: A provocative video uploaded on social media, in which a man challenged the Karnataka Police, particularly the Bengaluru City Police, to trace “25 Bangladeshis” he claimed to have sent to Bengaluru, has triggered concern. He also alleged that the Bangladeshis were targeting police officials and politicians, claiming they would barge into their homes and harm their wives and children.The Cyber Crime Police of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) swung into action, registered a case on Thursday and, by evening, identified the accused as Santosh Kumar, a resident of Kikkeri in Krishnarajpet taluk of Mandya district.Kumar works as a labourer at a hotel in Dubai. Soon after the CCB police contacted him, he deleted the video and uploaded another video apologising to the police.Kumar had uploaded the video on his Instagram account, santhuuu_kr_pete, on Thursday morning.In the video, he said, “Karnataka Police, if you are men, find this. I have sent 25 Bangladeshis to Bengaluru. You cannot catch anything. All these days, none of you could catch them. Do you know for what work I have sent them? I have targeted only policemen and politicians. They will barge into your houses and do what they want with your wives and children. They do not have ID cards or addresses. I have made all the arrangements for them,” and challenged the police to trace them. “Then I will give you my address and you can do whatever you want.”The video, which went viral on social media, drew attention because of the man’s provocative remarks, direct challenge to the police and references to politicians. His claim that around 25 Bangladeshi nationals had been sent into the city without identification documents raised concerns.Speaking to TOI, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said a case had been registered by the CCB police in connection with the incident. The accused is from Kikkeri and is currently working abroad. Efforts are underway to have him deported and arrested. Singh said Kumar and his family had been warned over his abusive and vulgar remarks.The accused later uploaded another video apologising for his provocative remarks and threats. In the video, he said, “I uploaded a video regarding Bangladeshis in the morning. I spoke very badly about the police. I apologise to them. Please forgive me this time. I will not repeat such things in the future. I was upset because many Bangladeshis are coming to Bengaluru and no action has been taken against them or to send them back to their country. So, I spoke in a wrong manner.”Singh warned that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace and public order or create fear among citizens. Another senior officer said the Kikkeri police had also registered a case against Kumar.
