Bengaluru: After the suspension of Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman Sahukar S Shivashankarappa, the vet exam scam claimed a second big wicket on Thursday, with Karnataka govt suspending IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar pending further inquiry by Criminal Investigation Department.The 2016-batch IAS officer, who served as exam controller at KPSC from Feb 2024 to March 2026, was suspended after the govt took note of the allegations in the KPSC recruitment process. Also, he had remained in official custody for more than 48 hours — both grounds enough for the govt to note his conduct violated services rules.During suspension, the officer cannot leave the headquarters without written permission from the govt.Gangwar came under the scanner of CID and Enforcement Directorate following allegations that a few candidates had paid Rs 40 lakh each to access question paper and answer sheets.According to the govt order, ED, in a letter, stated that material seized during a search-and-seizure operation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act indicated instances of corruption in KPSC recruitment processes.Gangwar, from Lucknow, was serving as director, MSME, until he was arrested on Aug 29 in the scam. He was remanded in judicial custody on Aug 30. He was subsequently taken into police custody on Aug 31 for further investigation.
