HYDRAA secures 1.3-acre govt land in Petbasheerabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday removed encroachments from 1.3 acres of govt land in Petbasheerabad of Qutbullapur mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and fenced off the parcel, officials said. The land is part of a 38.15-acre govt property under the control of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). Officials said the land had been allotted to a journalists’ housing society, and HYDRAA had earlier fenced 36.2 acres to protect it from encroachment.“The remaining 1.3 acres, however, was allegedly under the occupation of the management of St Ann’s High School, which had been using the parcel as a playground. HYDRAA officials said the school management had earlier sought time till the end of the academic year to vacate the land and remove the compound wall built around it,” said AV Ranganath, commissioner, HYDRAA.As the wall remained in place even after the academic year ended, HYDRAA launched an operation on Friday, demolished the structure, and fenced the land identified as govt property. Boards declaring the parcel as government land were also erected at the site. Officials estimated the market value of the reclaimed 1.30-acre parcel at over Rs 100 crore.
