HYDERABAD: A road adjoining the US Consulate in Hyderabad was formally renamed Donald Trump Avenue on Tuesday as part of the Freedom 250 celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.Telangana deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams unveiled the ceremonial plaque at the event, which was attended by diplomats, government officials and industry representatives.Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka highlighted the growing partnership between Telangana and the US in areas such as technology, investment, innovation, higher education, clean energy and cultural exchange.According to the Telangana government, the Freedom 250 celebrations reflect the shared democratic values and expanding cooperation between India and the United States. The deputy chief minister said strong people-to-people connections and growing economic and educational ties would further deepen the relationship in the years ahead.The event also highlighted Hyderabad’s role in strengthening India-US engagement across sectors including technology, aerospace, defence and investment.The decision to rename the road was first announced by chief minister A Revanth Reddy in December 2025. The avenue runs alongside the US Consulate in Hyderabad’s Financial District.State government officials have previously said the move was aimed at recognising the strong business and investment ties between Telangana and the United States. Hyderabad has emerged as a major destination for global capability centres and hosts operations of several American companies across sectors.
