HTET row escalates: Records destroyed, alleges staff; board calls claims baseless

Bhiwani: A controversy has erupted at the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) over alleged destruction of records related to the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) 2024, triggering protests by employees and sharp claims from student groups even as the board denied any wrongdoing. The situation escalated on Thursday as employees staged a protest inside the board premises and announced an indefinite strike. Protesters alleged that examination-related material, including OMR sheets, was being disposed of in haste, raising concerns over transparency. The claims could not be independently verified.Employee union general secretary Somveer Poonia demanded an immediate halt to the process, saying the matter was sub judice and questioning the urgency. Other union representatives also alleged that key documents linked to HTET 2024 were being discarded without due process..Rejecting the claims, BSEH chairman Pawan Kumar termed them “misleading and baseless”. He said all critical examination records were safe and only non-essential material was being disposed of as per prescribed norms, with no link to HTET results. The board urged candidates not to be misled by rumours and to focus on upcoming examinations.According to data, around 3.3 lakh candidates appeared for HTET 2024, with about 14% qualifying. The results were declared after a delay of over three months.Amid the row, a delegation of aspirants is expected to meet district police authorities. Protesters have warned of intensifying their agitation if their demands are not addressed.
