Bengaluru: The mystery surrounding disappearing undergarments at an Indiranagar apartment was solved after two women turned detectives. Troubled by their garments vanishing overnight and reappearing the next day while fresh ones went missing, they installed a hidden camera, which captured the pervert in the act and led to his arrest.The arrested man, Abdul Hussain, alias Saddam, 23, a resident of Indiranagar and native of Assam, works as a delivery agent with an e-commerce company.The incident was reported by a 29-year-old private firm employee, who shares a flat with another woman on the ground floor of a building at Hoysalanagar in Indiranagar. Since May 2026, the two repeatedly noticed clothes, particularly undergarments left out to dry in the house compound, mysteriously disappearing. Strangely, the stolen clothes would reappear a day later, while a fresh set would go missing.Alarmed by the repeated incidents, the women decided to set up a hidden camera on the premises. “We searched online and bought one for around Rs 1,300,” the complainant told TOI.“We hid the camera facing the clothes on the night of July 1, capturing every movement till morning to identify the culprit,” she said. Their plan paid off. When they checked the footage the next morning, they saw Hussain trespassing into their compound at 3am. He first replaced the undergarments he stole earlier before stealing fresh ones. The video showed him wearing the freshly stolen garments and engaging in sexually explicit acts in front of the camera before fleeing the spot.The complainant and her roommate handed over footage to police, which formed a team and traced Hussain. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Police said he was granted bail recently.
