Ghaziabad: Khajan Singh Manvi Health Care, one of the two hospitals accused of denying emergency treatment to a four-year-old girl allegedly brought in by her family after a sexual assault, is operating without registration.On Aug 7, a Supreme Court bench of CJI Surya Kant and justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana directed the hospital to pay Rs 2 lakh to the girl’s family within four weeks. The order came after a court-appointed SIT found substance in the family’s allegations that Khajan Singh Manvi Health Care and St Joseph’s Hospital — the second facility that had refused admission to the girl on March 16 — failed to promptly treat the critically injured child, who died while being taken to a govt hospital.“Out of the two hospitals named in the rape and murder case, Khajan Singh Manvi Health Care is not registered under the CMO office,” additional chief medical officer of Ghaziabad Amit Vikram Singh said.Officials said the hospital had obtained registration from the district ayurvedic and unani department in 2024, but the licence lapsed in 2025.“When we asked the hospital to renew its registration, the management informed us that it had started offering allopathic services and wanted to register under the CMO office,” department official Dr Ashok Rana said. “However, the hospital recently approached our department again with an application for renewal.”On March 16, when the child went missing while playing outside her house, her family launched a frantic search and eventually found her in a nearby ground, injured and covered in blood. Her face bore stone-inflicted injuries, and her clothes covered only the upper half of her body; there were also bloodstains around her private parts.Her father earlier told TOI that without wasting a moment, they took her on a motorbike to the emergency ward of Khajan Singh Manvi Hospital. “I begged them to give my daughter at least some basic treatment to save her, but they immediately asked us to take her to another hospital and refused to provide any treatment. They said it was a police case and they could not do anything,” he said.“The doctor at Khajan Singh Manvi Health Care said they did not have proper treatment facilities and told me to take her to a bigger hospital. I pleaded with folded hands, but they still told me to leave. They did not even provide an ambulance,” he said.The father then took his injured daughter to St Joseph’s Hospital. “A doctor came to see her, but said the same thing — that it was a police case and they couldn’t treat her, and that I should take her to a govt hospital instead. I stood there begging them, saying my child was still alive and asking them to please treat her. But they refused. My daughter kept bleeding, and they did nothing,” he said.He then took his daughter to MMG Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way.TOI tried to reach out to Khajan Singh Manvi Health Care for a comment, but the hospital administration did not respond.
