A bomb threat alert aboard the Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Duronto Express triggered a security operation at Bangarapet railway station Sunday afternoon, delaying the train briefly before it resumed its journey after officials found no explosives.According to railway officials, the alert was raised after a passenger, Prasad Yadav, travelling in AC coach B6, contacted the railway helpline alleging that a fellow passenger had spoken about planting a bomb in the train and blowing it up. Yadav also shared a photograph of the suspect with the authorities. According to official sources, Yadav deboarded the train at Renigunta railway station and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough search.Personnel from Railway Protection Force, Govt Railway Police, local police, and KGF district’s bomb detection and disposal squad launched an extensive search after the train arrived at Bangarapet around 2.15pm.The search focused on coach B6, where officials identified the suspect as Sushanta Dolai, a bedroll-change attendant. During questioning, police found that the complaint had stemmed from an argument between the passenger and the attendant over changing bedrolls.Police also verified Dolai’s background through the Interoperable Criminal Justice System and found no criminal cases registered against him. He was, however, taken into custody by railway police for further inquiry. After the security teams completed the inspection and confirmed there was no bomb or any other security threat, Duronto Express departed Bangarpet around 2.30pm and continued on towards Bengaluru.
