CHENNAI: Hitachi Energy India Ltd and Hitachi Energy Technology Services Pvt Ltd on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu govt to invest Rs 1,000 crore over the next three to five years to expand their facilities in Chennai and Chengalpattu, creating 1,000 high-end technology jobs.The MoU was signed in the presence of chief minister C Joseph Vijay at the secretariat. The investment will be used to expand Hitachi Group’s Global Technology and Innovation Centre at Porur in Chennai and scale up manufacturing operations at Hitachi Energy India’s facility in Chengalpattu.The expansion is expected to generate employment for around 1,000 highly skilled technology professionals over the next three to five years. Hitachi Group, a Global Fortune 500 company, operates the two subsidiaries that are undertaking the expansion projects.Industries minister S Keerthana, chief secretary M Sai Kumar, industries secretary S Vijayakumar, Guidance TN managing director and CEO Deepak Jacob, Hitachi India managing director Venu Nuguri and Hitachi India chief growth officer Karthik Krishnamoorthy were present during the signing of the MoU.
