Ahmedabad: A pile-up involving four cars on the SG Highway near Sargasan Bridge left four men injured, one of them critically, early on Friday.Police said a speeding car first hit an electric SUV from behind, pushing it into another vehicle ahead and setting off the four-car pile-up. The speeding vehicle caught fire after the collision, they added.The crash occurred when the speeding vehicle attempted to overtake a car, triggering a chain-reaction.All four injured men, aged around 25, were hospitalised. Three were admitted to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital, while the critically injured victim was referred to a private hospital in Ahmedabad.The incident initially sparked speculation that the vehicles were racing.Sector 7 police inspector A G Solanki said, “There is no evidence, as of now, that the occupants were racing. One vehicle was being driven at high speed and hit the other vehicles. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact sequence of events.”Eyewitnesses claimed the vehicles were travelling at over 100 kmph and alleged that some occupants appeared intoxicated. Police said these claims were being verified.
