Gurgaon: The city is likely to witness a brief lull in monsoon activity over the next three days before rain intensifies again from July 27, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD). While only light and intermittent showers are expected in the coming days, temperatures are likely to remain pleasant under cloudy skies.On Thursday, Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius, both close to normal for the season, according to IMD’s Gurgaon KVK automatic weather station. Over the next few days, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 32-33°C, while the minimum is likely to hover between 26-27°C.According to IMD’s evening weather bulletin issued on Thursday, scattered rainfall is expected across Haryana from July 24 to 26, with no weather warning in force on Friday and Sunday. Monsoon activity is expected to strengthen again from Monday (July 27), with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at some places across the state till July 29. Heavy rainfall has also been forecast at some places in northern Haryana on Saturday (July 25).During the 24-hour period ending 8.30am on Thursday, Gurgaon remained largely dry. IMD’s Gurgaon observatory recorded no rainfall, while the NorthCap University observatory recorded 1mm.Across Haryana, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at a few places during the past 24 hours ending 8.30am on Thursday, while thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds occurred at some locations. The state’s average maximum temperature rose by 0.3°C compared with the previous day but remained close to normal. The average minimum temperature increased by 0.8°C and also remained near normal.Among the higher rainfall figures recorded during the period were 20mm at Hathnikund in Yamunanagar, 18mm at Canal Colony Ottu in Sirsa, 10.5mm at Narnaul, 8mm at Sadalpur in Hisar and 2mm at Kaul agricultural station in Kaithal.IMD said Haryana has received 249mm of seasonal rainfall since June 1, which is 29.2% below normal, indicating that the southwest monsoon continues to remain in deficit despite intermittent spells of rain this month.
