Alwar: Heavy rain over the past 24 hours has disrupted normal life in Dholpur district. While showers brought relief from the heat and humidity, continued rainfall has led to waterlogging in several areas, and farmers have also reported crop damage.On Saturday, two gates of the district’s largest Parvati dam were opened by around two feet, releasing 2,200.76 cusecs of water. Officials said inflow into the dam continued due to rainfall in its catchment area. The Jal Sansadhan Vibhag appealed to people to avoid travelling through low-lying areas and said it was continuously monitoring the dam’s water level. A police contingent was deployed at the dam under Angai station officer Kripal Singh.In low-lying areas of Dholpur city, water entered residential areas, causing difficulties for motorists and pedestrians. Residents said they were troubled by water entering their houses. Water also accumulated around a temple, making it difficult for devotees to offer prayers. Dirty drain water was reported to have collected both outside and inside the temple.Residents said inadequate drainage caused water to accumulate on roads during rainfall and demanded a permanent solution from the administration to address the recurring waterlogging.
