Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Thursday issued notices to the Centre and the state govt on a Public Interest Litigation over delay in widening and developing Nindar Valley Road in Jaipur.The road, which passes through hilly terrain and has several blind and dangerous turns, has remained narrow and in poor condition despite administrative and financial sanction for its widening more than a decade ago.A division bench of Justice Arun Monga and Justice Ashutosh Kumar issued notice to the Centre and directed additional solicitor general Bharat Vyas to appear and file a reply. The court also directed additional advocate general Basant Singh Chhabra to accept notice on behalf of Rajasthan govt and file its response.“We have brought this to the notice of the court through the PIL that the forest department had flagged hazardous turns on the road as early as Dec 2010 and recommended remedial measures. Subsequently, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) accorded administrative and financial sanction of Rs 2.50 crore in 2014 for widening the road through the forest area between the hills of Nindar village. However, the work could not proceed as the requisite forest department approval remained pending,” said counsel for the petitioner Ajatshatru Meena.The petition claims that the petitioner repeatedly approached authorities through representations in 2014, 2024, 2025 and again in July 2026, seeking intervention to resolve the issue. The petition states that despite the sanction, the road continues to remain substantially narrower than the 30-metre width contemplated in planning records. “The road has deteriorated further, with uneven stretches, mud and loose material following rainfall and erosion. The absence of adequate boundary walls and street lighting, coupled with dangerous turns and hilly terrain, has increased risks for commuters and pedestrians,” he argued.
