Six arrested within hours of posing as I-T officers to loot Ajmer bizman

Ajmer: Police arrested six men within hours of a robbery in which five of them allegedly posed as income tax officers to loot jewellery and mobile phones from a businessman’s house in Nasirabad Friday. The stolen jewellery was recovered from the accused, police said.Police identified the accused as Devendra Koli (33), Sanjay Rawat (34), Ravi Kant Koli (40), Amit (26), Taru Reiger (39) and Devendra Singh Rawat (20), all residents of Adarsh Nagar.Police said five accused entered the house posing as income tax officials, while the sixth remained in the car to help them escape.The incident took place around 11.30am when five men arrived in a black SUV at Maheshwari’s residence in Mahesh Colony near Dilwara bypass. Maheshwari was at his office in Nasirabad city with his brother and father.Nasirabad SHO Radheshyam Choudhary said the accused allegedly introduced themselves as income tax officers, took the family members’ mobile phones and began searching the house. CCTV footage showed the men wearing white clothes and gloves, with their faces lowered, he said.According to the police, the men spent around 14 minutes inside the house, collecting jewellery worth lakhs of rupees and three mobile phones. They then claimed they were seizing the valuables. When Maheshwari’s son, Kartik, asked them for a receipt, the accused allegedly pushed him and fled towards their vehicle. Kartik chased them but could not stop them.
