Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail till Sept 10 to CPM functionary Mohd Lahek Ali, who has been in custody for about 50 days for allegedly inciting a mob in the Baruipur rape and murder case, after his counsel submitted that his mother was on ventilator support.Ali was arrested on July 12 by Special Task Force in connection with unrest at South 24 Parganas’ Baruipur over the rape and murder of a minor. Police alleged he provoked and incited people involved in offences under Section 103(2) of BNS.Justice Tirthankar Ghosh directed his release on a bond of Rs 20,000, noting that state govt sought time to produce a pen drive containing the alleged speech. Justice Ghosh ordered Ali not to leave Baruipur SP’s jurisdiction and to report to Baruipur police station’s inspector-in charge whenever summoned.
