Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday denied bail to ISF’s Moulana Sahajahan Ali in the Mothabari violence case, citing the seriousness of the allegations and that the NIA was yet to conclude the probe.Before the division bench of justices Debangsu Basak and Md Shabbar Rashidi, Ali’s counsel argued the offences were not scheduled under NIA Act and further detention was unnecessary. The NIA opposed bail, saying the Supreme Court had ordered an expedited probe, and it was still underway. It alleged Ali had instigated the crowd, and that two witnesses and a police officer had identified him.
