Chandigarh: A Punjab and Haryana high court advocate was allegedly duped of Rs 85,000 by a caller posing as a bank employee, police said. A case has been registered at the cyber police station, and efforts are on to trace the accused. No arrests have been made so far.According to the complaint, Kirpal Singh Thakur, a resident of Sector 38, received a call on Oct 8, 2025, from an unknown number. The caller allegedly introduced herself as an employee of a private bank in Sector 37.Thakur told police that following the interaction, an amount of Rs 85,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account. He said he subsequently contacted bank officials but the issue remained unresolved. He had been in touch with the bank since Nov 6, 2025, regarding the matter.After this, he approached the cyber police and shared details of the transactions. Following preliminary verification, police registered a case against unidentified persons and initiated an investigation, including tracking the money trail.
