CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat on Monday held a one-day capacity-building workshop on the Centre’s National Language Technology Mission, Bhashini, and AI-based interpretation, transcription and translation tools to make legislative functioning faster and more efficient.Officers and staff of the Publication, Translation and NeVA branches were given hands-on training on Bhashini services and their practical use in Assembly work. Digital India Bhashini Division CEO Amitabh Nag and his team conducted the technical sessions.Speaker Harvinder Kalyan said capacity building was a continuous process in the Assembly and adoption of emerging technologies was essential in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He said AI-enabled translation and publication would simplify work, cut delays, reduce costs and help preserve legislative records.Referring to similar use in Parliament, Kalyan said the move was another step towards converting the Haryana Assembly from a paper-based system into a digitally empowered smart legislature. He said easy and timely access to proceedings and legislative documents would strengthen democratic transparency and benefit MLAs, staff, citizens and researchers.Kalyan urged officials to apply the training in routine work and said technology must be backed by human sensitivity, diligence and vigilance. Nag explained Bhashini’s architecture and AI-driven language services, including translation, speech-to-text and text-to-speech.
