GURGAON: The Haryana government will soon formulate a policy to address issues related to 24-metre roads in urban areas, state industries and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh said on Saturday.Singh said the policy was being worked out after discussions between chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and senior officials and would seek to address problems arising in the construction and connectivity of such roads.He was speaking after inaugurating a 24-metre sector road connecting Sector 49 with Golf Course Extension Road at Godrej Aristocrat society.The road, developed by Godrej Properties, is expected to benefit around 30,000 residents and schoolchildren in the area.“Construction of 24-metre roads in urban areas is a major issue. The government will soon bring a policy so that people do not face difficulties and issues related to these roads can be resolved appropriately,” Singh said.Earlier, at a public grievance redressal programme at Uniworld Garden-2 in Sector 47, Singh said there would be no shortage of development work in Badshahpur assembly constituency.He said the constituency was among the largest in the state and covered areas under two municipal corporations, while rapid urbanisation had increased the need for planned infrastructure.Singh said development-related demands raised by residents would be examined and taken up on priority as per rules. He added that Gurgaon’s infrastructure needed continuous strengthening in view of its growing population and urban expansion.On environmental concerns, Singh urged residents to avoid single-use plastic and plant at least one sapling on occasions of celebration. He said saplings should be cared for regularly for at least five years to ensure they grow into trees.Corporators Kuldeep Yadav and Vikramjeet, DTP Amit Madholia and representatives of resident welfare associations and Godrej Properties were among those present.
