Harish Rao Challenges Revanth Reddy on Telangana Farm Loan Waiver

Hyderabad: Alleging chief minister A Revanth Reddy spoke lies on farm loan waiver and other schemes during his speech at Sangareddy meeting on Saturday, former minister T Harish Rao he would resign as MLA if every farmer had received the farm loan in CM’s native village Kondareddy Palle village. He dared to come for a debate in the assembly on the welfare schemes including Rythu Bharosa, loan waiver and fee reimbursement. The CM should have spoken about Telangana’s development and welfare instead of resorting to personal attacks and making what he described as blatant false claims, he said.Speaking at a media conference at his camp office in Siddipet on Saturday evening, Harish Rao said that Independence Day instead of remembering the freedoms fighters, the CM had used the occasion for petty political rhetoric.Harish Rao said the Congress manifesto contained 420 promises and made a pointed reference to the timing of the Chief Minister’s Sangareddy speech, alleging that the speech began at 4:20 pm and consisted of “420 words”.The BRS senior leader alleged that the Congress govt had allowed the Singur reservoir, which supplies drinking water to Medak, Sangareddy and Kamareddy districts, to be depleted, resulting in several areas receiving drinking water only once in two or three days.He also criticised the Government for neglecting the Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar irrigation projects initiated during the BRS govt and said that the CM had failed to provide any clarity on their progress. On ration cards, Harish Rao said that the state govt had itself stated in the assembly that the BRS govt had issued 6,47,479 ration cards benefiting around 20 lakh people, contradicting the claims being made by the CM at public meetings.Harish Rao also challenged the Chief Minister’s claim regarding employment generation. He said that in response to a question raised by him in the assembly, the govt had stated that only around 16,000 jobs had been provided after the Congress came to power, while the Chief Minister was now claiming that 70,000 jobs had been provided. He demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to unemployed youth if the figures being cited at public meetings were incorrect. He further alleged that fee reimbursement payments had remained pending for around two and a half years, affecting lakhs of students. He questioned why the state govt was announcing new payments without explaining when the accumulated arrears would be cleared.Harish Rao also challenged the Chief Minister on the farm loan waiver. He alleged that although the govt had stated in the assembly that ₹35,000 crore had been allocated for the waiver, only around ₹20,000 crore had actually been released.“Revanth Reddy took an oath before God that he would waive farm loans up to ₹2 lakh. I am challenging him today. Let him come to his own village without his security personnel. If it is proved that every eligible farmer in his village received the promised loan waiver, I will resign. If not, will he resign?” Harish Rao asked.Ends/
