Sonipat/Gohana: “I had no other way left.” These words, written in a two-page note recovered from the scene, have emerged as a key part of the investigation into the deaths of a 37-year-old woman and her three children in Mudlana village of Gohana, Sonipat, on Saturday.Reema allegedly poisoned and hanged her children — daughters Rihana (11) and Aarzu (7), and son Dushyant (4) — before dying by suicide, according to preliminary police findings. In the note, Reema addressed her husband, Jaidev, a JBT teacher posted at a govt school in Matlauda, Panipat. She apologised to him, claimed she was under severe mental stress and said he was not responsible for the incident. She also requested that no police action be initiated against him. “Jaideep… I had no other way left. A year ago, God had made me say something, but things were no longer in my control. There is nothing left for me here,” she wrote. The note referred to alleged family disputes, differences over property and accusations of black magic against her in-laws. Reema claimed another family member was being favoured in matters concerning family property. It also mentioned where gold jewellery was kept in the house.Referring to her children, she claimed they did not want to live without her and wrote that she was taking them along. She also appealed to her parents not to discriminate among family members.Police registered a case under Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on a complaint by Reema’s brother, Kapil, a resident of Silani village. ACP Rajiv said police were investigating all aspects, including the suicide note, evidence collected from the scene and statements of family members. Police spokesperson ASI Ravinder Singh said the postmortem had been completed and the bodies handed over to the family.Four funeral pyres were lit together as Jaidev performed the last rites of his wife and three children. Police said further action would depend on the postmortem findings and forensic reports.
