Gurgaon: The city is likely to see a prolonged spell of rain this week, with India Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rain at many places on Aug 14 and 15.The city is also under a light rain warning for Tuesday. IMD’s seven-day forecast said heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in northern Haryana on Aug 14, 15 and 17.For the city, the district-wise forecast has predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places on Aug 12, followed by isolated rain on Aug 13. Rainfall activity is expected to increase again on Aug 14 and 15, with light to moderate rain likely at many places in the district.The district is among those where IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain at isolated places on Aug 11. The warning also covers Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Jhajjar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal. Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places.The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall at many places in the city and neighbouring Rewari, Jhajjar, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat and Jind.The city recorded a maximum of 30.7 degree Celsius on Tuesday which was 2.8 notch lower than the pervious day. Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 33.5 degress Celsius on Monday.City recorded 1mm rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30 pm. Gurgaon KVK recorded a minimum temperature of 26.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while Gurgaon AWS recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius and NorthCap University AWS 27.4 degrees Celsius. IMD said the average minimum temperature across Haryana fell by 0.8 degrees Celsius compared with the previous day and remained near normal.On Monday, Gurgaon KVK recorded a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius. The district did not record rainfall at Gurgaon KVK station in the 24 hours ending 8.30am Tuesday.Across Haryana, light to moderate rain occurred at a few places during the past 24 hours, while heavy rain and thunderstorms were reported at isolated locations. The highest maximum temperature in the state was 34 degrees Celsius at Hisar.IMD attributed the prevailing weather conditions to the monsoon trough, which was passing through Bikaner, the centre of a low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas, before extending eastwards towards the east-central Bay of Bengal.The outlook for Aug 16 and 17 indicates that light to moderate rain will continue at a few places, suggesting that the wet spell is likely to persist into the weekend.
