GURGAON: A 33-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death following a domestic dispute before dying by suicide by hanging himself in their rented residence in Sector 9.The incident occurred around 6.00pm on Sunday. The tragedy came to light when the couple’s 6-year-old son, who was playing in another room during the incident, entered the bedroom and discovered his father’s body. The deceased have been identified as Deepak Kumar and his 28-year-old wife, Sonam Bai. The family originally hailed from Chawar Colony on Khudanpuri Road in Alwar, Rajasthan, and had been living in Gurgaon for work. According to police, the couple had a heated argument on Sunday night. In the middle of the night, Kumar allegedly strangled Bai and subsequently took his own life. Their minor son, unaware of the violence, was in a separate room at the time. He later walked into the bedroom, found his father hanging, and immediately rushed out to inform a neighbour. The neighbour alerted the police, who reached the spot and found both bodies in the room. A forensic team, along with Sector 9-A police, inspected the scene. The victims were taken to a local hospital, where they were declared dead. A preliminary inspection revealed strangulation marks on the woman’s neck, confirming she had been strangled. Investigators said a family dispute appears to be the primary motive behind the suspected murder-suicide. The bodies have been sent to a local mortuary for post-mortem examination, scheduled for Monday afternoon. A detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the incident is underway, police said.
