GURGAON: Police have constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the road-rage case involving woman biker Sia on Golf Course Road.The SIT will be headed by DCP East Sandeep Kumar and comprise the ACP (CAW), SHO of Sector 56 police station, in-charge of the Sohna Crime Branch and an ASI-rank officer.The team has been tasked with conducting a detailed investigation and examining all aspects of the case.The development comes days after a video showing Sia being knocked down by a car near the Sector 55-56 Rapid Metro station went viral.Police subsequently arrested car driver Kalyan Bainsla and his cousin Lovneesh in Rajasthan.Bainsla and Lovneesh were produced before a local court on Wednesday and sent to two days of police custody, till September 18.Police sought their custody to recreate the crime scene, visit the spot with the accused and ascertain the whereabouts of the co-accused, according to Bainsla’s advocate Lalit Bindal.Police had added an attempt-to-murder charge against Bainsla after examining the video of the incident. The case was registered at Sector 56 police station.Sia has maintained that the car followed her and hit her motorcycle before leaving the spot.In a video statement shared on Instagram, she said footage from two cameras showed the car moving across lanes before hitting her bike and questioned why the driver did not stop after the collision.Bainsla, however, has denied deliberately hitting Sia. He claimed a group of 22-23 bikers was riding aggressively, repeatedly overtaking his car and slowing down in front of it.His lawyer has also claimed the riders were racing, speeding and performing stunts, and described the crash as a case of negligence rather than hit-and-run.Police had earlier analysed CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
